In the Guise of Religious Harmony

There is considerable negativity in our churches today. While many feel compelled to say something, a good number prefer to stay mum, some prefer to pray. But there are a great number of us who do not think twice about criticizing the church. And so it goes like this.

The Priestly Collar
I watched a homily by a renowned priest on YouTube a couple of days ago and was amazed at his tenacity - he said it like it is without mincing words. I also believe that when a person holds the Holy Eucharist – the Body of Christ in his hands but defiles others, can he continue using the collar and be a priest, like really? We are a mistake making people and no one is devoid of sin. Jesus said, ‘Let one who is without sin cast the first stone.’ However, Jesus also said that He did not want the house of God to be made into a den of thieves. In this context, as we look at the destruction of young boys, girls, women this is theft of their innocence. Preying on the innocence using a collar is so very wrong. From my limited point of view, I believe as a firm Catholic that any religious person, who does not follow God’s laws and the laws of the church, needs to be reprimanded and brought to book. Don’t you agree?

Staging a Coup
There is another facet that has been plaguing the church when politically motivated parishioners stage coups to eradicate good priests to carve a niche for their political ambitions. The good priests who follow the tenets of Catholic principles are caught in a web of deceit by dreadful parishioners who hold high positions and ultimately mar the reputation of parish priests causing good churches to go downhill. Many believe that they are doing good work, but are actually wolves that prey on the decency of many innocent parishioners and innocent priests.

Choir Disharmony
Most choirs start out with good intentions. But over time aspirations by some seeking adulation becomes the basis. The initial good intentions change course, by the misguided many, causing others to lose focus, cause disruption resulting in the cacophony. Instead of staying the course and praising God, the direction towards the larger door becomes the piece de resistance. Ill-advised choir members, governed by greed to maintain the focus of the congregation, cause irreparable harm because of misplaced aspirations. The objective of singing with harmony goes downhill. Dissenting voices strum negativity which is the ultimate price of biting into the forbidden fruit.

As a Thought
With issues and problems plaguing the church - sex scandals, rapes, politics, it gets nauseating for lay people who look forward to participating in the Eucharistic celebration. As a firm Catholic who loves my faith, I believe that the issues must be addressed with firmly. People who misuse their office should be brought to book. Whether it is a parishioner, a priest, nun, members of prayer groups and so on and so forth. This should address the problem head-on without paving the way for more ridicule and unfair commentary by everyone who has an opinion.

That being said, when an impropriety has been committed, is it wise to have someone with a collar lead the flock in the wrong direction?

Cheating

Why do people throw good relationships for a quick roll in the hay? This practice seems to be growing and practically every second person in a committed relationship doesn’t think twice about two timing his/her partner. However, when they are “found out” these individuals don’t think twice about promising the moon and once forgiven you can be pretty sure that they are gonna do (sic) the deed again and again. I think that once they go the entire hog, they just aren’t gonna curb their enthusiasm! Cheaters know their partners will relent no matter what. They preen themselves with having “won”! However, if a person cheats on me, I would tell the jerk to beat it. Rather be single, keep your dignity intact than stick with some douche bag. Not my cuppa … What about you my lovelies?

Water Woe

Here’s a problem about the water scene that’s plaguing our city with the authorities taking a lackadaisical attitude about our woeful situation. Guess privatization of this inactive force needs to be the hour of the day. What say? The heat at this time of the year in Feb is rather pinching and I really wonder what it’s gonna be like in the coming months. Here’s hoping that some rain will give us a breather and in consequence fill the reservoirs and enable the water man to actually attend to our ardent need. Moving on from the tale of gloom, with the onset of summer it’s time for the sleek and svelte to don the most happening items in vogue and show off their splendid bods. To the rest of us metabolically slow, we trudge the path of heat with the longing that this brand of ‘exercise’ (or lack of it) would shed the unwanted girth! Anyways, it’s a good time I guess both ways, coz everyone maybe a winner because..........the heat is on! ....... but not the ones with lack of water...

Beginning of the End?

A short story here... Just read and let me know what you think? I haven't concluded the story just going with the flow. The erratic nature of the power supply left the entire city in the lurch and this seemed to be a frequent occurrence. In spite of pleadings to curb global warming people paid no heed to the warnings and this brought about the swarm …. The beginning was when the entire country was wiped out in darkness and stampedes all over going on well into the night. Headlights of passing vehicles were the only source of light as generators were giving way because of the scarcity of fuel available. Every living being was being held hostage because of the “no power and no water” adage. No rainfall = less electricity = no water = no produce = malnutrition. The crops were in a mess, pets were getting crazed, and livestock was dropping dead by the minute. Drought was at an all time high. Neighboring countries pitched in, but this deluge was gaining momentum across cou...

Narrow Path

When I look at your arms on the cross stretched wide Your eyes filled with love encouraging us to drop the divide But no matter which way we trudge You love everyone without even the slightest grudge. Temptations all around enticing us with its wares How do we ignore these pangs and stop its glares? Many ridicule us because of the road we follow Help us set an example and travel the path of straight and narrow.

Will We Change?

The tears, sorrow and pain on His face we ignore Pretense with - that’s a picture, are you so sure? Nonchalance is the stand that we take When will we change and stop this act of fake? He was born to a simple innocent virgin called Mary And His foster father Joseph a poor carpenter Something that we could never ever do It is so difficult because we so love this zoo! At the chosen time when he gathered His disciples together to join Him By His example they embraced His commandment When questioned about this by the learned many He simply replied 'love one another' is the best of plenty. Joining the people, scholars and clergy at a general place He taught them simple parables many did not embrace The idea was to get Him out of the way To pave a road to riches and make their day. They plotted and planned and chose the easiest betrayer Who kissed Jesus his Master, The Savior Thirty pieces of silver was their solution The end result a conscience - a rope so in...
