The ashes remind me that I am fallible I am a mere mortal They let on that the season of Lent begins Ashes remind me that I am mere dust and shall return to dust They remind me that I, a sinner need to change I cannot go through life with blinkers I have to walk and take up my cross The ashes also signify to me that I am loved God loves me, and all His people The ashes let me know that the time for reflection is on They signify discipline They make me want to be better To give more and take less Be honest with myself The ashes tell me Lent is here The ashes remind me that Jesus died on the cross to save us The ashes tell me that God will always love us.
