“Save up for a rainy day”, I told someone who literally decided to splurge during the rains. Told her that this was just a figure of speech and the next thing that she dishes out is that she needs to get herself in shape because she had to deliver a speech at the office! I wanted to scream but said that she probably did not get the memo at school when we learned about the various ‘takes’ on the English language. To which she replied – “I only get memos at the office, in school the teacher doled out homework on the blackboard”. Ummmm…. I wanted to run away this time but said that I should probably take it down a notch and shift gears to a straightforward topic. To which she replied … “But we are not in the car.” Eyes rolling Xo
