I Have To Study

Kids have it tough is a refrain from practically every nook and corner these days. What we fail to address is this a cycle of life and when we were young we had it rough too – in a varying degree. Having said this, however, I acknowledge that the homework that they bring back to deal with on a day-to-day basis is heart wrenching. When I look at the little ones with their heavy school bags all set to wrestle their daily grind I long to help them out of their misery. So I try it out with the kid at home, but before I do she brings out the big ones with the ‘don’t help me I need to get this done on my own’ expression. Even if I could….!?! The little one gets really bothered if I so much as tiptoe into her room enquiring about her homework. I try to go the mile with a ‘why don’t you take a break?’ request. But she won’t have it – the need to get the matter over and done with is the norm. Also, the competitive streak is apparent. With a sigh of dejection I go my way leaving her to
