There is this brand of negativism that is on the rise today with practically everyone jumping on a bandwagon to hurl potshots at another. If the person(s) gets a thumbs up or high five for the brand of brand of negativity, s/he will go with the flow and does not give it a rest. Let us think out of the box, in simplistic terms, as to why appreciation and concern have gone out the door in favour of negative flavor.
Q. Who is a hater?
A. A hater is a person who does not think twice about tearing the reputation of anyone to shreds.
Q. What does the person get out of being a hater?
A. Instant gratification, I suppose considering that there are more haters today than ever before.
Q. When did this brand of negativity creep into our system?
A. There is no sure answer to this question, but social media has given people the platform to say what they want and get away with it. That being said negativity has been around for centuries.
At the end of the day, you are going to come across people who do not give a hoot about you. Ergo, the only advice that one can give you (I try to follow the same) is to adopt a thick coat that does not cut through the finer aspects of you. In simple terms, do not give too much of importance to haters. This is probably an easy way out, but at the end of the day, that is the only way we get to deal with what life has to offer.
I am writing here as someone who has experienced hatred and a clear amount of scorn from people who do not even know me. They have spoken about the weirdest things in the past, probably at present too and I am pretty sure that they will in the future. These custodians of ‘virtue’ are certainly not virtuous because they have soiled their tongues.
