That Strange Noise that Never Let Up

I woke up to this strange noise
A sound unlike any other
It was unique
Looked to the left and right

Went further and probed the ground
Looked up towards the roof
I could not figure it out
There was nothing around

Went back inside
The same noise
It was not a rat, no way
No dog or cat in the vicinity
No chance of a squirrel
This was not the sound of pretty birds chirping
Or the eagle with its piercing shrill as it circled the sky
The cuckoo played hooky
The crows cawing was a constant, so not them

Gosh, what was that, I wondered
Went online to figure out the sounds
I was perplexed
I did not have a clue
Perhaps someone teasing me, I thought
If the living creature wanted to show itself to me, it would

I rested
Woke up to someone tapping me
Seriously, what WAS the problem?
Why wasn’t I allowed some shut eye?
Didn’t they know that I was up all night?
Apparently not

I rubbed my eyes - no one was in sight
I cribbed never stopped the grumbling
Why did they keep on waking me up?
Made myself my favorite cuppa
Guzzled away
Heard the same noise
Ignored the noise
Went back to sleep

Woke up to someone tapping me
Wake up… wake up
I did…
Finally
It was all a dream
… Or was it?
Still racking my brains!

Beginning of the End?

A short story here... Just read and let me know what you think? I haven't concluded the story just going with the flow. The erratic nature of the power supply left the entire city in the lurch and this seemed to be a frequent occurrence. In spite of pleadings to curb global warming people paid no heed to the warnings and this brought about the swarm …. The beginning was when the entire country was wiped out in darkness and stampedes all over going on well into the night. Headlights of passing vehicles were the only source of light as generators were giving way because of the scarcity of fuel available. Every living being was being held hostage because of the “no power and no water” adage. No rainfall = less electricity = no water = no produce = malnutrition. The crops were in a mess, pets were getting crazed, and livestock was dropping dead by the minute. Drought was at an all time high. Cheating

Why do people throw good relationships for a quick roll in the hay? This practice seems to be growing and practically every second person in a committed relationship doesn’t think twice about two timing his/her partner. However, when they are “found out” these individuals don’t think twice about promising the moon and once forgiven you can be pretty sure that they are gonna do (sic) the deed again and again. I think that once they go the entire hog, they just aren’t gonna curb their enthusiasm! Cheaters know their partners will relent no matter what. They preen themselves with having “won”! However, if a person cheats on me, I would tell the jerk to beat it. Rather be single, keep your dignity intact than stick with some douche bag. Not my cuppa … What about you my lovelies?

Remote Rehab Watchers

What really annoys the sibling, are the soaps and serials I’m hooked onto. She’s like ‘why can’t you watch something informative instead of the usual jazz’ that I (supposedly) watch. What can I say - I’m a couch potato and love the title. She waits for a while and once she notices I am away from the remote she pounces and grabs it. I was too slow for that one! I hate this situation. Makes me feel so helpless, but I have to stay put otherwise you know the drill. She’ll fight and I will retort and cold shoulder treatment for a while. The poor sucker (the remote here) will have to face the wrath. I placate myself with the ‘anyway we have another television’ so I rush towards it and see the remote in the hands of the other sibling. I never win! But I have a new idea I will hide the remotes so that they don’t put me in this situation ever again.
