While You Were Sleeping

While you were asleep – something was going on Mice were moving around Thieves were scouting the place Someone was screaming Someone was watching telly Someone was working Someone was having sex Someone was crying Deals were closed Ants were working Roaches were all over the place Creativity was at its peak Artists were researching Cameras were recording Cars were zipping on empty roads Kids were studying Someone was cooking Someone was getting a makeover Someone was praying Someone was dreaming You too were dreaming While you were sleeping, something was going on It is time to wake up Smell the burnt coffee Smell the roses Wake up, or lose out And… Do not cry over spilled milk Period

The Order of the Day

A considerable number of people are of the belief that they have the right to mock anyone because, apparently, it suits their discourse. When the roles are reversed, they will cry hoarse at the injustice! Taking potshots at someone may appear to be cool, but constant nitpicking is quite ridiculous. Since this seems to be the way forward, certain people prefer to tear reputations to shreds. It helps them reach the precipice of glory that they would never reach, even in their wildest dreams. Hence, the reason why it makes perfect sense for them to go gung-ho and mock someone/anyone, for the heck of it. Once an idea is promoted, mob mentality through a weird hypnotic hue takes over and becomes a constant. It is quite strange to note that even smart folk fall into this strange rut. I suppose, we live in a time where ridicule has become a famous word. Talking nonsensical garbage about someone without the facts is a way to garner brownie points. There has been nastiness across the board ...

Gang Bang Scary Shit

Speaking about rape in whispers is no longer necessary. Every single day, we hear about it on television channels or read the newspapers about atrocities being committed with such (for want of a better word) alacrity. These hoodlums believe they have the right to rape any female based on twisted logic and reasoning they promote. It is sickening, to say the least, that these perpetrators are not being awarded the worst punishment possible. As we, the female sex, venture out of our homes to seek employment, study, shop, go out with friends, hang out with our partners, enjoy what the outdoors has to offer, we also have to worry about our safety. There needs to be some accountability as to why this horrid crap keeps occurring across the board. These creepy crawlies have decided that they need to step it up, round a bunch of perps, and gang rape any female - baby, little girl, young lady, middle aged woman and senior citizen. Any one will do. Being raped by one person is terrorising it it...

Why is Hate the Obvious Choice, I Wonder

There is this brand of negativism that is on the rise today with practically everyone jumping on a bandwagon to hurl potshots at another. If the person(s) gets a thumbs up or high five for the brand of brand of negativity, s/he will go with the flow and does not give it a rest. Let us think out of the box, in simplistic terms, as to why appreciation and concern have gone out the door in favour of negative flavor. Q. Who is a hater? A. A hater is a person who does not think twice about tearing the reputation of anyone to shreds. Q. What does the person get out of being a hater? A. Instant gratification, I suppose considering that there are more haters today than ever before. Q. When did this brand of negativity creep into our system? A. There is no sure answer to this question, but social media has given people the platform to say what they want and get away with it. That being said negativity has been around for centuries. At the end of the day, you are going to come across ...

The Lenten Season

Today is Ash Wednesday, and the beginning of a wonderful season called Lent that calls us to rise, repent and return. I take this from the sermon that the Priest presented this morning. It was so wonderfully delivered that it stayed with me without having to rack my brains as to what made me sit up and take notice. Taking this as a cue to get my life back on the right track – the narrow road, I hope that the rest of the season brings me closer to God. In doing so, I will learn the power of forgiveness and never keep score. I will keep you posted darlings about my progress. If I do falter, I sincerely hope that I pick myself up and stay the course. May this Lenten season bring you all the hope, peace and love that you need. Praise God.

An Interview with a Mosquito

Most of us find ourselves at the mercy of mosquitoes. We try every single way to rid ourselves of these pests that create a frenzy but we hardly win. I have suffered from serious bouts of a mosquito riddled illness and know many who have fallen prey to these bloodsuckers. Here is a tongue in cheek 'interview' with the queen mosquito which goes like this. Mosquito, mosquito how have you been? Buzzing around my friend across the stream Dengue, Chikungunya and Malaria I spread This bloodsucker sure knows how to use his head. These human try to get rid of me They do not know that we are an army and we are free We spread panic from one country to the next They try to rid themselves of us, try they do We mosquitoes are here to stay folks, boohoo!
