Angry Words

Screaming Shouting Fighting Frothing No let up… Is there a point? Does a problem get resolved? Do angry words work? Blame game? Someone faces the brunt… Join the fight? No… Walk away… Better solution… There is no point If there was a point There would not be a fight Dialogue works Deliberation … a step towards reconciliation Discourse … Yep finally talking No yelling No shouting No frothing Straight talk Grown up acceptance The real deal or idealism?

Disciplined Nagging

Kids face the drill that respect should be given to elders – speak when you are spoken to, sit straight, do not slouch, do not curse, do not laugh at the injustices, don’t … don’t… don’t… and do… do… do! I agree that the mind of a child is like a sponge and values should be imbibed at an early age, but what is with the dictating? Children do as they are told and rebel when they want attention, no rocket science this! However this piece is not about rebellion, but about rules that adults enforce on children but hardly ever practice what they spout. Here are a couple of examples that I noticed at a social gathering some time ago • A young adult was berated by a senior relative for taking time off to enjoy a party • A kid was chastised for laughing too much • A third was looked at disapprovingly because she went for seconds at the buffet • Another did not meet the cut because of the outfit she wore… We live in a world where one has to look at things in black and white i.e. rig...

Amidst Adversity She Stood Tall

It was well over a few weeks when Sheena realized that she had missed her period. What was she to do? Should she talk it over with her boyfriend Praveen or just go ahead and get rid of the evidence. She knew deep down that her family would ostracize her if they ever found out and she had no other option but to opt for an abortion at the private clinic. She was asked a number of questions and filled in all the information in the form supplied and within a couple of hours the deed was done. She kept the secret from her boyfriend for a couple of weeks but when things were too much to handle she blurted it out. He was furious and relieved but had to audacity to ask whether the child was his! Sheena ran out of there in tears and cried and cried until she was too tired to cry anymore. The next day it was all over college that she had slept around and had an abortion! She was treated like a social pariah. She looked at Praveen her boyfriend who ignored her and said sadly “To think I lo...

Pet Peeves

Okay so I do not have a pet – but that doesn’t mean that I do not like animals. I was bitten by a friend’s dog years ago, which was mighty vicious mind you, but that did not (does not) deter me from appreciating man’s best friend. I came into contact with a cute dog years ago called Sandy who loved going out and making friends and hardly ever stayed put in her home. To her the street was her home - she was the best watch dog ever. Ultimately she met her death when she was run over by a merciless imbecile. There is another side to this piece about pet affiliations however. I appreciate it when people take care of their pets; it is enjoyable to watch a puppy do a merry dance to his owner’s tune. It is cuter still when they catch some shut eye and curl up – seriously it is super cute. But the one thing that really gets my goat, and I am sure yours too my dahlings, is the lack of concern quite a few owners have when it comes to their pets messing up. They train their pups to do practical...

Masti All the Way

Just a little post here my dahlings.... Some people like him some don’t, frankly who cares – when there are people who love him – I sure do! The king of Bollywood has done it again and how with Chennai Express! The movie has masti, romance, craziness and comedy, fights, and a happy ever after feel. You may wonder how does it differ from what is on offer from the rest of the movies - the answer to this is simple really both Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone as well as the rest of the cast do justice to their roles – period! Heck man I am no hard core movie analyst or critic and don’t aspire to join the club, just stating the glaring obvious about the flick which is fun unlimited. Seriously you won’t leave your seat, coz it is really nice. Forget the negative stuff doing the rounds, go out there and have fun… you are bound to come out happy! Get on the train baby…… Xo....
