Pet Peeves

Okay so I do not have a pet – but that doesn’t mean that I do not like animals. I was bitten by a friend’s dog years ago, which was mighty vicious mind you, but that did not (does not) deter me from appreciating man’s best friend. I came into contact with a cute dog years ago called Sandy who loved going out and making friends and hardly ever stayed put in her home. To her the street was her home - she was the best watch dog ever. Ultimately she met her death when she was run over by a merciless imbecile. There is another side to this piece about pet affiliations however. I appreciate it when people take care of their pets; it is enjoyable to watch a puppy do a merry dance to his owner’s tune. It is cuter still when they catch some shut eye and curl up – seriously it is super cute. But the one thing that really gets my goat, and I am sure yours too my dahlings, is the lack of concern quite a few owners have when it comes to their pets messing up. They train their pups to do practical...

Masti All the Way

Just a little post here my dahlings.... Some people like him some don’t, frankly who cares – when there are people who love him – I sure do! The king of Bollywood has done it again and how with Chennai Express! The movie has masti, romance, craziness and comedy, fights, and a happy ever after feel. You may wonder how does it differ from what is on offer from the rest of the movies - the answer to this is simple really both Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone as well as the rest of the cast do justice to their roles – period! Heck man I am no hard core movie analyst or critic and don’t aspire to join the club, just stating the glaring obvious about the flick which is fun unlimited. Seriously you won’t leave your seat, coz it is really nice. Forget the negative stuff doing the rounds, go out there and have fun… you are bound to come out happy! Get on the train baby…… Xo....

Embrace Your Curves

There is this myth that keeps doing the rounds - women who are padded do not make good business choices. But this is just that isn’t it, a myth. The fact of the matter is that women are not only good at balancing the beam at home but at the office too. The concept that a plus sized individual cannot handle this because she is um… plump just does not cut it. What gives I wonder that makes many believe this falsehood. Let us demystify this constant dribble that a person who is heavier has to work extra hard. Is this right, or is it? Darn it, it really doesn’t say much for us plus sized many does it? Another problem is shopping for clothes. When we visit a clothing house, the pretty stuff is always allotted for the size zeros or the ones slightly above that range. Anyone who is a size 12 and above is considered to be ‘not with it’ and the range of colors on offer are black, dark blue, grey, beige, or anything that spells boring . The only choice that most plus sized people have there...

Rhetoric on Garbage Etiquette

What is it with us – when we travel to foreign shores we follow the rule of the land, keep our surroundings clean, never litter, do not spit, refrain from urinating in public, but once we are back in our homeland we forget all the rules. If only this practice continues in our country, we wouldn’t have to deal with the menace of illness or a grubby façade. The fact remains, that we take our surroundings for granted and do not think twice when we throw a wrapper out the window while driving. I noticed something quite sickening a couple of weeks ago and have been following it to the day. A woman was sweeping the front of her house, or rather the maid was doing so, and she didn’t think anything of shoving the debris in front of her neighbor’s place. I noticed this every day until the place piled up with leaves, and people started dropping packets of garbage in front of the gentleman’s place. He did not raise a stink perhaps because he knows the mentality of the individual. I happened t...

The Regressive Force of Progression

Much has been said about the actress who has crossed over to foreign shores while promoting a film. However, what outrages the sentiment, is the fact that she not only belittles the Indian woman and her thinking power, but her country of origin as well. We have another actress who has more or less put the individual in place by stating that India has evolved, and how. The question that arises here - what quantifies regression? Is it someone who has embraced the welcoming arms of a foreign land or is it someone who is happy traveling abroad, learns the culture of the land, but still rejoices in what she values the most - her homeland! The lady who has spoken out about the lack of vision that Indian women have, seems confused. She speaks of a culture that she has chosen to leave behind. And with a diverse act that she has projected on herself with living six months abroad and six here, well… what can the rest of us say except – what does she know? Has she lived amidst the poor ladies ...
