We came across a young boy weeping bitterly on our daily walk
He appeared to be in his teens with raggedy jeans and a tee split halfway
Using the cape of discomfort we walked on ignoring him
But his sobs brought us back to his seat
We inquired after him with a gentleness that overshadowed our initial falter
And what we saw was despair and fear… but also something else – hope
He sensed …care
Sobbing that his life was a mess and things were crazy bad
We sat down and tried to understand his pain
It’s a long story he told us that would take a lifetime to explain
“Knowing that there are people who care, I know that hope is out there”
We shook his big warm hands and gave him an encouraging hug
And were rewarded with tears again – but this time they were of happiness and peace
He knew we cared…
We went our way and he went his - we never crossed paths again
But from that day on our lives have been blessed and situations turned around
Not with monetary grandeur or the rest of the brash
But plain old joy, peace, love and serenity that this forlorn stranger helped us
get back.
Show someone you care…
It doesn’t hurt…
Blessings me dahlings
