Cozying Up

As I cozy up to 2011, I hope that the tide will turn eliminating recession bringing forth good health, peace and contentment, accompanied with happiness and bliss always to everyone the world over.

As resolutions go I make them and by the second week of Jan they are out the door. So instead of working towards something rather time consuming and often strenuous, I’m just gonna go with the flow and based on this will embrace the good times and accept the bad ones. But here are a few that I’m gonna follow:

• Bring sexy black/brown to the hair roots (one can live in hope!?)
• Get the bank account laughing
• Shed the flab super fast
• Be good and careful - if not the former gonna stick with the latter for sure
• Watch more news programs (seriously?)
• Avoid negative influences and cling to the positive ones
• Avoid calling the water, electricity and other departments with the hope that I just don’t need to

Cheers to you me lovelies and I will let on during the course of the month, week, day, hour, minute, second if I have been able to stick to my resolve.

XoXo

It Is Election Time - No Chance of Watching A Rerun For Sure

Just another day in the life of an average person who wants to watch a rerun of Friends but has to make do while flipping from NDTV, Tiranga, India Today, Times Now, Mirror Now, and the rest. I live in hope that I can watch my reruns again! Will have to wait for the 23rd! Okay, I get it, watching television is not everyone’s cuppa today, though many of us mere mortals still turn on the television to watch a program or the other, especially the news, at this point of time, with elections going full gusto. In my life, while I would love to watch reruns of old comedies, Mum watches the news. When I asked her the other day, why not watch WWF instead - I explained that it is way cooler than the mudslinging, she looked at me as if I had lost my mind. What can I say, Mother I replied. My thoughts were, aren’t we slowly losing the plot while getting drawn into debates? I avoided saying anything more, or I would have been drawn into a debate! We are gripped into this frenzy based on rhe...

Beginning of the End?

A short story here... Just read and let me know what you think? I haven't concluded the story just going with the flow. The erratic nature of the power supply left the entire city in the lurch and this seemed to be a frequent occurrence. In spite of pleadings to curb global warming people paid no heed to the warnings and this brought about the swarm …. The beginning was when the entire country was wiped out in darkness and stampedes all over going on well into the night. Headlights of passing vehicles were the only source of light as generators were giving way because of the scarcity of fuel available. Every living being was being held hostage because of the “no power and no water” adage. No rainfall = less electricity = no water = no produce = malnutrition. The crops were in a mess, pets were getting crazed, and livestock was dropping dead by the minute. Drought was at an all time high. Neighboring countries pitched in, but this deluge was gaining momentum across cou...

Narrow Path

When I look at your arms on the cross stretched wide Your eyes filled with love encouraging us to drop the divide But no matter which way we trudge You love everyone without even the slightest grudge. Temptations all around enticing us with its wares How do we ignore these pangs and stop its glares? Many ridicule us because of the road we follow Help us set an example and travel the path of straight and narrow.

Water Woe

Here’s a problem about the water scene that’s plaguing our city with the authorities taking a lackadaisical attitude about our woeful situation. Guess privatization of this inactive force needs to be the hour of the day. What say? The heat at this time of the year in Feb is rather pinching and I really wonder what it’s gonna be like in the coming months. Here’s hoping that some rain will give us a breather and in consequence fill the reservoirs and enable the water man to actually attend to our ardent need. Moving on from the tale of gloom, with the onset of summer it’s time for the sleek and svelte to don the most happening items in vogue and show off their splendid bods. To the rest of us metabolically slow, we trudge the path of heat with the longing that this brand of ‘exercise’ (or lack of it) would shed the unwanted girth! Anyways, it’s a good time I guess both ways, coz everyone maybe a winner because..........the heat is on! ....... but not the ones with lack of water...

How Do I Say Goodbye

How Do I Say Goodbye?    You are God’s chosen one, watching me from above I wasn’t able to be with you during your most difficult time Mimi how I wish I can get back to that period when your illness was not prime What do I tell you, my sweet sister, except that I am shattered The last message you sent me was that you were coming back alive - that really mattered   This new normal is impossible to take I hold back tears and try to be strong, I feel so fake You know what I am going through, don’t you sweetheart? Coz you and I were never ever apart If I can just touch you for a mere minute the pain may disappear God knows best as I hold on to memories that are so dear You are my best friend, my confidant, my sparring partner Be free from pain darling girl, rest in peace I love you, and I always will
