Its all Blag....

Ah the mango season, brings about a twinkle in the eyes of the ardent mango devotee! The pushcarts are laden with various kinds and the ‘specialist’ really knows which one to pick. On a visit recently with the doctor (who is a real chatterbox I must say) he went on about the positives about the fruit. Encouraging us to try the different varieties, one could not help noticing his love for the fruit - so unlike the others who never really advocate gorging on this yummy fruit. His advice was to weigh each fruit in our hands - the lighter the mango the lousier the fruit. Thanks doc, I followed the advice and must say the suggestion has certainly made us a happy lot with heavier silhouettes! I had visited him for an allergy attack ….. Chatterbox of a doctor, but the advice on the fruit was useful, and yeah the allergy is kinda taking a breather. Whew or what?

It was really annoying to wake up one fine day and notice something strange - my lips were enormous – no collagen implants just an allergy attack! No clue as to what happened or which darn bug decided to chew away at me mouth. Cut to the chase, Avil was not doing its magic and neither Allegra. So doctor beat dosed me with a shot and well, the rest is hopefully history. What is it with this silly thing called allergy anyways, we eat something and are fine and then when you drink water or even sleep you get an attack. Well here’s hoping that the pollen in the air decides to stop becoming a force to reckon with and let me go my way for the morning walkathon.

So many people looking for jobs and with the market supposedly turning for the better, the greed with some candidates is disgusting. I was informed the other day by a 30 something professional who was drawing a salary of a limited amount wanting “1 crore per year”! Seriously what gives?

What gives with the whole relationship stuff I wonder, having come across so many folk opting out of the institution of marriage? This ‘institution’ is slowly becoming a farce with cheating, harassment, abuse, greed, etc rearing its ugly head. One wonders what the fuss is all about - get hitched and then ditched is more the mantra I think. When people sprout their love before the noose is around their necks well that is because you say goodbye at the doorstep. Once the knot is tied, well you are screwed, especially if you are with the wrong partner. Trust that is so imperative in a relationship is so misused. One trusts and the other breaks the trust. Wtf!

So that’s it me lovelies for now. Enough of this rambling, or this may soon become a blag! So I’m off to secure my relationship with my .... well that’s a secret for now. More later and here’s to us enjoying the weather and the king of fruits. Yeah didn’t forget the mango amidst all the chaotic spiel.

It Is Election Time - No Chance of Watching A Rerun For Sure

Just another day in the life of an average person who wants to watch a rerun of Friends but has to make do while flipping from NDTV, Tiranga, India Today, Times Now, Mirror Now, and the rest. I live in hope that I can watch my reruns again! Will have to wait for the 23rd! Okay, I get it, watching television is not everyone’s cuppa today, though many of us mere mortals still turn on the television to watch a program or the other, especially the news, at this point of time, with elections going full gusto. In my life, while I would love to watch reruns of old comedies, Mum watches the news. When I asked her the other day, why not watch WWF instead - I explained that it is way cooler than the mudslinging, she looked at me as if I had lost my mind. What can I say, Mother I replied. My thoughts were, aren’t we slowly losing the plot while getting drawn into debates? I avoided saying anything more, or I would have been drawn into a debate! We are gripped into this frenzy based on rhe...

Beginning of the End?

A short story here... Just read and let me know what you think? I haven't concluded the story just going with the flow. The erratic nature of the power supply left the entire city in the lurch and this seemed to be a frequent occurrence. In spite of pleadings to curb global warming people paid no heed to the warnings and this brought about the swarm …. The beginning was when the entire country was wiped out in darkness and stampedes all over going on well into the night. Headlights of passing vehicles were the only source of light as generators were giving way because of the scarcity of fuel available. Every living being was being held hostage because of the “no power and no water” adage. No rainfall = less electricity = no water = no produce = malnutrition. The crops were in a mess, pets were getting crazed, and livestock was dropping dead by the minute. Drought was at an all time high. Neighboring countries pitched in, but this deluge was gaining momentum across cou...

Water Woe

Here’s a problem about the water scene that’s plaguing our city with the authorities taking a lackadaisical attitude about our woeful situation. Guess privatization of this inactive force needs to be the hour of the day. What say? The heat at this time of the year in Feb is rather pinching and I really wonder what it’s gonna be like in the coming months. Here’s hoping that some rain will give us a breather and in consequence fill the reservoirs and enable the water man to actually attend to our ardent need. Moving on from the tale of gloom, with the onset of summer it’s time for the sleek and svelte to don the most happening items in vogue and show off their splendid bods. To the rest of us metabolically slow, we trudge the path of heat with the longing that this brand of ‘exercise’ (or lack of it) would shed the unwanted girth! Anyways, it’s a good time I guess both ways, coz everyone maybe a winner because..........the heat is on! ....... but not the ones with lack of water...

Narrow Path

When I look at your arms on the cross stretched wide Your eyes filled with love encouraging us to drop the divide But no matter which way we trudge You love everyone without even the slightest grudge. Temptations all around enticing us with its wares How do we ignore these pangs and stop its glares? Many ridicule us because of the road we follow Help us set an example and travel the path of straight and narrow.

How Do I Say Goodbye

How Do I Say Goodbye?    You are God’s chosen one, watching me from above I wasn’t able to be with you during your most difficult time Mimi how I wish I can get back to that period when your illness was not prime What do I tell you, my sweet sister, except that I am shattered The last message you sent me was that you were coming back alive - that really mattered   This new normal is impossible to take I hold back tears and try to be strong, I feel so fake You know what I am going through, don’t you sweetheart? Coz you and I were never ever apart If I can just touch you for a mere minute the pain may disappear God knows best as I hold on to memories that are so dear You are my best friend, my confidant, my sparring partner Be free from pain darling girl, rest in peace I love you, and I always will
