Those Creepy Crawlies

This thought that I put down here is not a pretty start to the New Year my darlings but I believe it is something to ponder over, and never stop. Practically every woman who has walked down a crowed road has been at the mercy of hoots or faced a prod or a poke from an unsavory character. Many opine that it is because ‘she’ asked for it! I beg to differ here and have to state the obvious that that certain men/boys are plain uncouth. Having heard shocking stories doing the rounds about a number of girls molested in our city, it is scary. How dare these characters think that they have the right to infringe on the modesty of a woman! Whatever gave them the power to behave the way they did/do? If they think that they have got away with it because they were part of the crowd, they need to examine their conscience and think again. Whether they like it or not, the wheels of justice will hit them where it hurts sometime, after all what goes around… I, as a woman, who is by no means a femi...

Advent

Two Sundays of Advent have passed. As the days draw closer to Christmas, the feeling of joy and longing fills our hearts. Buying new clothes or revamping old ones with something different is on top of the list. Losing weight is another main issue. Cleaning the home is another and finally making sweets is the norm, it never dies even as we get older. We pitch resources together buy those extras that we would never have during the rest of the year. Some of us ditch the diets and let go of negativity, all for a cause – the birth of our Lord Jesus. Midnight Mass with angelic voices rejoice at His birth. When the best voice from the choir belts out ‘O Holy Night’, we feel His presence accompanied with a feeling of immense happiness. Christmas, the day of Our Lord’s birth, heralds the feeling of hope, peace, joy and love. May this holy season of Advent, bring you and your loved ones all the happiness you deserve as you prepare for Christmas. Till later my darlings, Hugs

That Blank Ceiling and Its Lackadaisical Charm

That feeling of helplessness When you are lonely and have no one to talk to No one who really cares No one who understands you It can drive you crazy It can bring you to your knees That feeling of utmost despair Resonates with a general feeling of unease Looks of strangers seem bizarre Was that your imagination or a new low? Is this the beginning of depression? Is it just one of those days When everyone has something to do Somewhere to go Someone to love You find yourself staring at the ceiling The idiot box Feeling down and out Lost in a state of confusion Music soothes the nerves Settles the ragged edges Some comedy on the idiot box cracks you up Try to be a comedian Someone who infuses laughter to get rid of the tears The mask need not budge You have integrity and grit You get by Past the hurt The stone throwing The mean glances The loneliness You have found a new friend The persona (if you may) of something that sticks with you Infuse dry humor ...

That Cute Blue Top

I have this favorite top and because I wear it so often, I call it my uniform. It is ideal because it has the feminine charm, is definitely cute and has the knack of hiding those dreaded bulges. It looks nice and while the family does probably like the top, I am pretty sure they are fed up of seeing me with the same attire. Since the eyes rolling were a constant, one fine day, I pushed it far away in the cupboard. It was time to take a break from each other and the top was slowly getting threadbare. I am not a tidy person by any means and eventually, the top got lost in the melee with the rest of the clothes, clothes and more clothes. Everyone was happy to see me don different outfits for a couple of weeks. Until I decided it was time to bring out the cavalry (read blue top). To my dismay, I could not find it, which was strange because in my untidiness, I have the ability to be organized. Take my word for it. In frenzy, like I was searching for lost treasure, I continued the hunt. I ...

In an Instant

There he was as dashing as ever His eyes danced with love The face though drawn looked happy He was the one who nearly got away We reconnected, after years Time stood still The days were good Nights even better Life was peachy Death came as fast as death comes Took him away There was nothing left to do I cried, and cried Couldn’t fathom why I lost him, again My one true love Goodbye my darling

Cries of the Babes

Why Mommy, why? I hear their heart wrenching cries Every second of the day My debt I have to pay Let the scalpel do the job Removed the lust – a simple swab Simple and effortless it seemed at the time Had they been carried to term they would be at their prime. Why, Mommy, why? They still cry Did we not love you that you let us die? We wanted to see the world like you and Dad Guess if we came out it would be that you guys were bad We longed to be held in your arms Mom We needed your love, Mom We never felt that ever, Mom Do you know how that felt, Mom? They tore at our flesh Suctioned us out The machines and the docs did the job You walked away, not a sob Why, Mommy, why? You did not want us we know We never knew you we had a different way to grow Up here with Jesus who accepts us, flaws and all We do not forget you Mom Not at all

Changed Gears

He said trust me I know what you need His voice was Soft Sweet Like something I never heard before That was years ago I believed Unfortunately, I lost my way I longed for his voice I waited I asked him to speak to me He answered He sounded similar but different It did not seem right I waited I kept on talking I did not embrace the silence Did not hear his voice I lost my way… I changed the course I heard his voice Soft Sweet Kind Gentle I followed him I did I was happy I was in the right zone Things changed The situation got to me It got me down I wanted out I asked for a solution I could not hear his voice I pondered I reasoned I gave up I gave in The road was paved with good intentions I changed gears again I surrendered I am free I can hear His voice All the time I am His Forever He knows my every need I trust Him
